Steel fabrication capabilities

Large-scale steel fabrication, specialised beam manufacturing and integrated transport solutions for infrastructure, resources, energy and industrial projects across Australia.

Built for Australia’s most demanding projects

Fremantle Steel Group delivers large-scale steel fabrication, custom welded beam manufacturing and integrated transport and lifting for infrastructure, defence, energy, oil and gas, resources, commercial and industrial projects across Australia.

From one Jandakot site we take work from shop detailing through fabrication, surface treatment coordination, pre-assembly and trial fit-up to transport, lifting and, where required, installation. Certified quality systems, an annual capacity of 25,000 tonnes and component-level tracking give clients a fabrication partner that reduces interfaces and keeps programmes on track.

FAQ

Common questions

What types of steel fabrication projects does Fremantle Steel Group undertake?

Structural steelwork, platework and pipework, custom welded beams and plate girders, conveyor and materials handling structures, modules and pre-assembled components, and site installation where required. Recent work ranges from about 500 tonnes of deck steel for a cable-stayed pedestrian bridge to 1,251 tonnes of structural steel and platework for a Pilbara iron ore sustaining project.

What industries does Fremantle Steel Group support?

Infrastructure and transport, resources and mining, energy and oil and gas, industrial, commercial construction and defence. Most work is fabricated at Jandakot, Western Australia, and delivered anywhere in Australia.

What manufacturing equipment and facilities do you operate?

One Jandakot site with 20,000 square metres of undercover workshop, 30,000 square metres of laydown and pre-assembly area, 34 overhead cranes with up to 17 metres under hook, 11 CNC processing machines, multi-axis laser cutting and a beam manufacturing plant producing welded I-beams to 4 metres web depth and 30 metres long, with 40 metres achieved. Annual capacity is 25,000 tonnes.

Can Fremantle Steel Group provide transport and logistics services?

Yes. Interstate Crane & Transport Hire, a group company, operates 10 prime movers (as at October 2026) with multi-combination trailers, and mobile cranes from 25 to 160 tonnes. It holds Western Australian Heavy Vehicle Accreditation for fatigue management, dimension and loading, and maintenance. Fabrication, transport and lifting are planned together, so oversized loads and regional deliveries are sequenced with the fabrication programme rather than handed to a third party.

What quality standards and certifications do you hold?

ISO 9001:2015, certified continuously since 1996; AS/NZS ISO 3834 Part 2 comprehensive welding quality; AS/NZS 5131 Construction Category CC3, including architecturally exposed structural steelwork; and Steel Sustainability Australia Level 2B. Environmental and safety management run inside the same integrated management system, which is aligned with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

How early should we engage Fremantle Steel Group on a project?

At concept or tender stage. Early involvement lets us advise on section selection, including custom welded sections that can reduce weight, on transport and lift limits, on pre-assembly and trial fit-up, and on delivery sequencing, before those choices are fixed in the design. We price from preliminary drawings and refine as the design develops.
