Infrastructure Steel Fabrication

Connecting communities, enabling growth

Fremantle Steel Group fabricates bridges, pedestrian structures, rail facilities and transport assets for state agencies and their contractors. Infrastructure work is judged on programme certainty and documented compliance, and our welded beam plant, trial assembly yard and own transport fleet are built for exactly that.

Delivered work includes about 500 tonnes of deck steel for the Swan River Matagarup Pedestrian Bridge, fabricated and trial-assembled at Jandakot; 311 tonnes of bridge steel fabricated and installed for the Perth Airport Pedestrian Link Skybridge; 883 tonnes fabricated and installed for the PTA Railcar Facility; 400 tonnes of pre-assembled steel bridges for Margaret River; and 400 tonnes of bridge steelwork delivered and installed in the Pilbara for a rail bridge.

Typical projects include:

  • Road and pedestrian bridges
  • Rail bridges and facilities
  • Noise walls and road furniture
  • Ports and marine structures
  • Stadiums and public venues
  • Water and desalination infrastructure
The structural component was always completed ahead of a very tight program. Errol Franks Project Manager Bardavcol Pty Ltd
FAQ

Common questions

What infrastructure work has Fremantle Steel Group delivered?

The Matagarup pedestrian bridge deck (about 500 tonnes of deck steel), the Perth Airport Skybridge (311 tonnes, installed), the PTA Railcar Facility (883 tonnes, installed), Margaret River bridges (400 tonnes) and a Pilbara rail bridge (400 tonnes, installed), among others.

Can you fabricate bridge girders and long-span members?

Yes. The beam plant produces welded plate girders to 4 metres deep and 30 metres long, and the 30,000 square metre yard allows full trial assembly before dispatch, as was done for the Matagarup deck.

Do you install as well as fabricate?

Where the client wants it, yes. The Skybridge, the PTA Railcar Facility and the Koodaideri rail bridge were all fabricated and installed by the group, with lifting by our own mobile cranes.

What compliance do you offer for government projects?

AS/NZS 5131 Construction Category CC3, AS/NZS ISO 3834 Part 2 welding, ISO 9001:2015, and Steel Sustainability Australia Level 2B for responsible steel procurement, with full traceability records for the certifier.

How do you deliver to regional sites?

Through Interstate Crane & Transport Hire, a group company: 10 prime movers (as at October 2026) and mobile cranes to 160 tonnes, under Western Australian Heavy Vehicle Accreditation. Bridge steel has been delivered to the Pilbara, the Kimberley and the South West.

Can you support Australian Industry Participation requirements?

Yes. Fabrication is at Jandakot with a directly employed Western Australian workforce, preference is given to Australian content where tenders are equally competitive, and local suppliers are encouraged onto the approved supplier register.
