Common questions
Which sectors does Fremantle Steel Group work in?
Infrastructure and transport, resources and mining, energy and oil and gas, industrial, commercial construction and defence. Recent packages have ranged from bridge decks and rail facilities to mining structural steel and platework packages of more than 1,000 tonnes.
Do you work outside Western Australia?
Yes. Fabrication is at Jandakot and the group delivers, and installs where required, anywhere in Australia, with its own transport fleet.
What sizes of project do you take on?
From a few tonnes of cast-in plates or pipe supports to multi-thousand-tonne packages, with 25,000 tonnes of annual capacity and 30,000 square metres of laydown for staged delivery.
Which standards do sector clients ask for, and do you hold them?
AS/NZS 5131 CC3 for structural steelwork, AS/NZS ISO 3834 Part 2 for welding and ISO 9001 for the management system are the three most specified, and all are held. Steel Sustainability Australia Level 2B supports responsible-steel requirements on government and Green Star projects.

Yes; each sector page lists examples, and the Projects section has more detail. For a specific scope we can provide a project experience schedule and referees on request.
How do you handle a sector's documentation requirements?
The inspection and test plan is agreed with the client at the start, and the records it calls for (material certificates, weld records, NDT, coating inspection, dimensional reports) are compiled as fabrication proceeds and issued as the manufacturer’s data report.
