Transport and lifting

From workshop to worksite

Fabricated steel only earns its value once it is standing on site. Through Interstate Crane & Transport Hire, a group company, Fremantle Steel Group plans transport and lifting alongside fabrication, so loads are sequenced with the programme and delivered by the same organisation that built them.

Interstate Crane & Transport Hire operates 10 prime movers (as at October 2026) with multi-combination trailers, and mobile cranes from 25 to 160 tonnes. It holds Western Australian Heavy Vehicle Accreditation for fatigue management, dimension and loading, and maintenance. Oversized and heavy components, regional and interstate deliveries, and yard-to-site lifts are handled within the group.

For the client that means one contract, one point of contact and one fewer interface on the risk register.

Your expedient and quality work and general cooperation with other trades greatly assisted us in achieving overall completion."

FAQs

Common questions

What transport services does Fremantle Steel Group provide?

Road transport of fabricated steel by Interstate Crane & Transport Hire, a group company, which operates 10 prime movers (as at October 2026) with multi-combination trailers.

Can you transport oversized or heavy structural steel components?

Yes. Long members and pre-assembled sections are a regular part of the group’s work. Interstate Crane & Transport Hire holds Western Australian Heavy Vehicle Accreditation for fatigue, dimension and loading, and maintenance, and transport limits are checked with the engineer at the design stage so that member sizes suit the delivery route.

Do you provide crane hire and lifting services?

Yes. Mobile cranes from 25 to 160 tonnes for yard handling, pre-assembly, offloading and site lifts.

Can logistics be coordinated as part of a fabrication package?

Yes, and that is the normal arrangement. Delivery sequence is built into the fabrication programme, so steel arrives in erection order and the site is not storing what it cannot yet lift.

Do you deliver steel to regional and remote locations?

Yes. Deliveries have included the Pilbara, the Kimberley, the South West and metropolitan Perth, and the group fabricates, pre-assembles and delivers to any part of Australia.

How does integrated transport benefit project delivery?

It removes a handover. When fabrication and transport are separate contracts, each change to the programme has to be renegotiated between them. Here one planner sequences both, the client has one point of contact, and a delivery slipping or moving forward is absorbed inside the group.
